Imagine, a beautiful temple on top of a limestone rock with an amazing view from the summit, only you need to climb 1,237 steps to enjoy the sceneries. Sounds like an interesting challenge right? Like I have mentioned in my previous post, I enjoy to combine cultural activities with some exercise. Don’t think climbing the Tiger Temple will be easy, some of the stair risers are more than 30 cm (1 foot) high! After climbing some stairs, you will get in a flow and have a feeling that you are nearly at the top, but then you realize your just halfway and already EXHAUSTED. However, you will be rewarded with the view at the top. The landscapes of the surroundings are amazing, full of limestone cliffs. I could even see the town of Krabi from this summit.
As a backpacker the Tiger Cave Temple is easy to reach with the motorbike from Krabi Town. You can buy drinks and fruits at the temple grounds. Look out for the cheeky monkeys, they are not the most kind creatures. If you still have some spare energy left after climbing, there is a small park besides the Temple. You can go here for a nice hike into the Nature and enjoy some Caves.
