Phnom Penh has various options to get fit while travelling as a backpacker. However, many of those options are quite expensive. Even the gym that I have visited was – one of the less expensive options – was in fact not cheap. Nevertheless, Muscle Fitness Center (located nearby the Tuol Sleng Museum in Phnom Penh) is a good option for a workout. There are enough cardio facilities, machines and free weights to satisfy most of the Fitness Backpackers.
In Sihanoukville I have visited the Adidas Gym. This is a fitness centre that is mainly visited by locals and the entrance fee will not hurt your small backpackers budget ($1). The fitness equipment at this location is devoured by decades of weight lifting and hard work. Don’t expect too much fancy equipment here. On the bright side, there is a squat rack, a couple of benches and the gym is empty most of the times. Moreover, you can support a local gym sustaining their business with your visit while getting fit.
Rumors has it that there is a small gym nearby the Serendipity Road.
